I was born and raised in Kentucky but have lived in Canada for most of my adult life. I have an MA in labour studies from McMaster University and a BA in photojournalism from Western Kentucky University. Over the last two decades, I’ve clerked at a bookstore, cleaned houses, waited tables, sold fireworks, been a barista, and worked at newspapers in Indiana and Michigan.

Now, during my adulting hours, I’m a professor of photography/design and run a media company with my husband. When I’m not writing or working, you can find attempting to corral my sassy kids or equally sassy chickens.
